Racetracks

In 2002, the Uruguayan government granted CODERE, in partnership with SLI, a concession to operate the historic Maroñas National Racetrack. This facility has been an important social and economic institution of Uruguay for over two centuries.

The agreement also granted CODERE a licence to operate betting facilities and slot machines outside the racetrack where races from Maroñas as well as international races are transmitted. The Maroñas Concession marked CODERE’s entry into the so-called racino business model: a system of rapid growth in recent years which combines casino games with racetrack facilities.

Since 2005 CODERE has been operating the Presidente Remón Racetrack in Panama City, Panama, where it is also implanting the “racino” model.

In 2007, CODERE acquired 49% of ICELA (a subsidiary belonging to its Mexican partner CIE) and began co-managing the Las Américas Racetrack in Mexico, F.D.

At 30 June 2009, CODERE was operating 3 racetracks: Maroñas National Racetrack in Montevideo (Uruguay), Presidente Remón Racetrack in Panama City (Panama) and Las Américas Racetrack in Mexico F.D. (Mexico).
