Fundación CODERE

The Fundación CODERE is a not-for-profit organisation created for the purpose of supporting and promoting activities relating to the study, analysis, assessment, regulatory development and evolution of the gaming industry.

The Fundación CODERE was founded at the end of 2007 for the purpose of driving and taking part in initiatives, both domestic as well as international, that enable improvement and implementation of public policies governing Games of Chance and the structures on which this industry is founded, in the performance of its social and educational undertaking, the development of local communities where it performs its activities.

The Fundación CODERE is an initiative of CODERE, a leading Spanish multinational company in the private gaming sector in Europe and Latin America. The company manages over 53,500 arcade machines, 133 bingo halls, 68 betting shops, 3 racetracks and 5 casinos in Spain, Italy, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Panama and Uruguay. CODERE, which went public in October 2007, is the first Spanish company in the Gaming Sector to be listed on the stock exchange.

The governing body of the Fundación CODERE is its Board of Trustees, which comprises:

  • José Antonio Martínez Sampedro, Chairman
  • José Ignacio Cases Méndez, Vice-chairman
  • Rafael Catalá Polo, Board member
  • Beatrice Rangel, Vocal, Board member
  • José Ramón Romero Rodríguez, Board member
  • Juan José Zornoza Pérez, Board member 

And the Director of the Foundation and Secretary of the Board of Trustees is:

  • D. Germán Gusano Serrano 

What inspires the Fundación CODERE?

The purpose of the Fundación CODERE is to become a meeting point for public and private institutions from the Gaming Industry, fostering collaboration between both parties.

It also aims to act as interlocutor between all hierarchical levels, in order to provide society with a true image of the Game of Chance activity.

Lastly, it aims to play the role of qualified representative of opinions, interests and requirements of the Gaming Industry before society, the media and public powers.

Our commitment to responsible gaming

The activities of the Fundación CODERE revolve around three key spheres:

Studies and analysis on the Gaming Industry by means of:

  • Agreements with different enterprises, both public as well as private. 
  • Collaboration with different Spanish universities.
  • Organisation of seminars and sector meetings.
  • Book sponsorship.   

To drive the improvement and implementation of good public policies on Games of Chance:

  • Stable and transparent regulation. 
  • Assessment of the effectiveness and efficiency of public policies.
  • Impact of new technologies and innovation on the Games of Chance activity.   

To minimise the possible social impact of Games of Chance in cooperation with the regulators and clients through Responsible Gaming campaigns.
